Dr Akeel Al-Attar

Akeel holds a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering and a PhD in Telecommunications, both from the University of Leeds England - UK. Since co-founding XpertRule Software in 1985, Akeel has been actively involved in the design, development and application of knowledge based systems and data mining technologies. Akeel's early work was in collaboration with Professor Donald Michie of the Turing Institute, Glasgow - Scotland. Akeel has published a number of papers on machine learning and knowledge engineering, and has given seminars and lectures in the United States, South America, Europe, Japan, the Middle East and Africa.

Akeel is one of the most experienced practitioners in the application of intelligent technologies and has been directly involved in the implementation of over 60 successful projects in the UK and Japan in the areas of financial services, process industries and manufacturing. These projects have used the technologies of knowledge based systems, data mining and genetic algorithm optimization of resources. Clients have included Rolls Royce, United Distillers & Vintners, Hibernian, Bradford and Bingley Building Society, Meiji Life Insurance, Mars, Channel 4 TV, Ericsson and three of the top UK Banks.
